The Spookman Institute is a private research university focusing on experimental science and technology located in Porsonville, United States. The institute was founded by Dr. Harold Spookman in 1967. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The Spookman Institute was founded with the specific purpose of advancing "Applied Scare Sciences" and is noted for its research in this area. The institute's research has been used to create haunted houses and amusement park attractions, as well as to study human fear and its physiological effects.

History
In 1967 Dr. Harold Spookman founded The Spookman Institute with a small grant from Burlow Chemical for the purposes of studying the psychological effects of various chemicals used in in-store shop displays.

Scream Den10 and The Halloween Machine
In 1996, the basement of the Spookman Institute's main building, "Harold Hall" was renovated into an advanced research science lab which housed a large machine called "The Halloween Machine." The research team in Scream Den10 were attempting to make a machine which created perfect Halloween Costumes. Late one evening, the two scientists in charge of the machine, Leonard Harris and Bart Johnson witnessed the machine turn itself on and make its own costume.
Harold Hall was destroyed by a 10 ton nuclear bomb the next day.
