Internet Break of 2023
The Internet Break of 2023 was an event orchestrated by Skeleton Realm LIVE! co-hosts Doug Bleichner and Sam Wagstaff that caused the internet to crash on May 31st, 2023 at 8:49.56 pm EDT. As of mid June 2023 no charges have since been pressed on the hacking duo.
Events leading up to the break
~In the days before May 31st
Doug and Sam decide they want to break the internet and start their attacks but to no avail.[1]
~3 minutes before the break
Doug and Sam announce their intent of breaking the internet to the Realmers that tuned in live to episode 58 of Skeleton Realm LIVE!.[2]
~2 minutes before the break
The hacking starts, Doug and Sam also recruit the Realmers by using their code, implicating them into the hacking crime.[3]
~Internet is broken
All internet services around the world are shutdown (with the exception of the Skeleton Realm YouTube and Skelepedia thanks to the Skeleton Realm File Storage System), leading to 404 errors on every webpage. Even large players in the internet game such as; Google, Wikipedia, Amazon, AT&T and MeMoreTV were all unable to function at this time.
Doug ejects the internet onto a compact disc which he then bends out of shape while demanding payment from world governments for the internet to be turned back on.
Aftermath
Due to the nature of the event it is impossible to know the full extent of what happened in the aftermath, but some things are certain.
The stocks of nearly every company in the world for the following days plummeted to nearly 1 millionth of a cent, with the exception of Skeleton Realm, whose stocks rose close to $500,000 becoming the most expensive stock price ever.
Governments around the world suffered greatly, being unable to communicate or access information on the internet, relations between all countries and government control of their own countries were at an all time low.
Electrical grids everywhere became unstable, causing major malfunctions and losses to global energy generation.
